Bio

I have been blessed to be part of this industry for close to 19 years and have seen the industry evolve from PPR to FAIS to RDR, TCF and lately, the FSR Act and soon to come - the COFI Bill.

I have a passion for developing people, processes and systems, using my knowledge I obtained throughout the years. I am a strong believer in turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones and that there is always a silver lining to everything. It is a matter of having a positive mindset and reaching your goals through careful planning, alignment with strategic goals and commitment. I am a team player as we do not obtain success by being a lone ranger - teamwork is a critical success factor to any new project, team, division etc.

I value financial planning principles set by bodies like the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) as well as the FPI's Code of Ethics and Practice Standards as it provides guidance and commitment to treating customers fairly. I am a proud CFP® professional member of the FPI and currently the Head of the Certification Department at the FPI.

My current duties at the FPI includes, but is not limited to:

-Conducting investigations into the standards for Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
-Judging the Financial Planner of the Year competition.
-Setting and managing the CFP® professional competency examination (board exam)
- Reviewing the FPI Code of Ethics and Practice standards from time to time, ensuring that it aligns with global standards as set by the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB)
-Preparing and providing all information needed for SAQA and FPSB audits
-Auditing FPI Professional Practices to ensure that it aligns with best practice as described in the FPI's Code of Ethics and Practice Standards
-Assist Financial Planning practices to become FPI Professional Practices
-Audit Educational Providers to ensure that they meet the requirements to offer the CFP® educational programme
