FPI and the ASISA Foundation offers you the opportunity to discuss money matter with consumers on radio from 22 September 2020

There will be 10 radio programmes across three radio stations starting on 22 September 2020. 


 
The 3 radio stations are:

  • Y-FM in Gauteng – Youth Radio station in Gauteng
  • Gagasi FM in KZN. Generally 50% Zulu and 50% English
  • Good Hope FM in Cape Town Western Cape

·         Why it is important to consider the TOTAL cost of credit before taking a loan and whether I can afford monthly repayments

Building a Credit Profile

·         What is a credit profile? And what is meant by negative listing?

·         what is a credit report and what things must I check for in a credit report?

·         What is debt review/counselling?

·         How do I repair my credit profile if necessary?

Saving for Retirement

·         Why it is important for young people to start saving for retirement from an early age

·         Different ways to save for retirement including – Pension, Provident funds and Retirement Annuities

·         What to do with my retirement savings when I am changing jobs?

·         What is investing and how it differs from saving

·         What are the various building blocks when investing – shares, bonds, property

·         How to identify and avoid investment scams

·         The importance of consulting with a financial planner or adviser and what questions I should ask them

Insurance

·         What long-term insurance should young people consider when starting out in the job market?

·         What is the difference between funeral and life policy?

·         What is meant by disclosure?

Managing Wills and Estate planning

·         What financial considerations to make before getting married or when cohabiting with a partner?

·         Financial considerations if I am staying single

·         Why do I need a will and what needs to be included in a will?

Consumer Rights and Summary

·         What to do if I have been treated unfairly or if I have a complaint

·         A summary of all the key topics discussed over the series
